A story of personal success through tuition reimbursement
As children, most of us are asked what we want to be “when we grow up.” We go to high school and college, graduate and find a job. However, sometimes the job finds us – as is the case with Natasha Pippin, RN/Clinical Nurse.
体育在线365Natasha is the epitome of kindness and compassion. She has “been taking care of people” her entire life. At a young age, Pippin was challenged with caring for several ill family members. While in high school, her first job was as an activities coordinator for a nursing home. She continues to help others through participation in student and music ministry at her church, Ivan Assembly of God, in Crawfordville.
Motivated by her experiences caring for family and small groups through the church, Natasha dreamed of pursuing a career in healthcare.
She held various positions at a local physicians’ office, followed by a stint in the Print Shop at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. In 2010, she was approached by a previous manager Kathy Patterson, who now works at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, to join the TMH team as a Cardiopulmonary Intensive Care Unit monitor technician. Ten years later, Natasha is a Registered Nurse and currently works in the Cardiovascular, Medical & Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
体育在线365Although Pippin began her journey at TMH without a clear path, she soon found her way into the nursing program offered by jameswburdick.community College.
体育在线365“I was strongly encouraged to pursue my nursing degree by Kathy Patterson,” said Pippin. "She is so supportive and helped me learn more about the tuition reimbursement program available at TMH. This assistance has helped me realize my career goals and I’m thankful to TMH for offering this benefit to colleagues.”
With guidance from TMH’s Human Resources office, Pippin was awarded the Lovey Mary Brady Memorial Scholarship through the TCC Foundation.
This scholarship was established by Elva & Tom Brady to honor the memory of Lovey Mary Brady and provides full program tuition and fees to a newly accepted female student to the TCC Nursing program for their Associates of Science in Nursing degree. Following her ASN degree, Natasha applied for tuition assistance through TMH to continue her education by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Natasha will graduate from TCC in 2021.
When asked what her future goals are at TMH, Natasha said, “Right now, I just want to enjoy being a nurse. It will take me a little while to complete my BSN, but hopefully this will allow me to further my career when I’m ready to move away from the bedside.”
Natasha has been married for 18 years to her husband, Jeffrey, and has a 14-year-old son, Kohl. She enjoys playing the piano and leading worship at her church. Natasha also considers herself “pretty crafty.” The financial assistance offered by TMH has made it possible for Natasha to focus more on her family and hobbies without the added worry of paying tuition as she pursues her higher education.
